Should I hire a Toastmaster, host or emcee for my wedding?

How a wedding host, emcee or toastmaster can help create a once in a lifetime spectacular!

cheshire wedding host

Wedding days are often depicted in movies as a magical romance stories. But I often see these wonderful days as theatrical plays.

As the audience files in eagerly awaiting the ceremony starting. The anticipation builds ready for the magical entrance of the bride as she floats down the aisle. The drama and the tension as to whether the wedding couple we'll get there ‘I do's’ right. The glorious finale as they walk back down the aisle as a married couple.

Obviously in any good play there are some curious characters. These are often in the congregation with eccentric relatives, outrageous friends and cheeky children.

After show photos with the stars of the show whilst the champagne flows at the after show party only open to VIPs.

The comedy scene plays out during the speeches with the best man taking the role of the comedian. As the curtain comes down on this wonderful day the celebrations continue into the evening.

But often in a romantic story or play there is a narrator or host that keeps the action flowing and keeps the audience updated and informed as to what and where the action will move next. They tie all the loose ends together and help make the story complete.

It has been my pleasure to help these stories unfold as a wedding emcee and host at numerous amazing weddings. I make sure that the happy couple are relaxed and ready for their big entrance. I ensure all of the special guests are in position and ready to enjoy the day. I act as icebreaker for guests who may not know many people attending and ensure they leave having made some new friends and connections during the day.

Most wedding venues have their own wedding coordinator and I work with them on the day to ensure that their team can deliver everything on time and that the guests get the best experience.

I warm up the crowd ready for the speeches and introduce all of the special elements throughout the day. From the cutting of the cake to the first dance, everything is presented the way you have imagined it throughout your wedding planning journey.

Also being a magical emcee I provide some amazing magical entertainment as your very own wedding magician, keeping the guests laughing and enthralled by the interactive wedding entertainment I provide.

I am based near Chester and so I have been lucky enough to be invited to host beautiful wedding days across Cheshire and the Wirral. But I often travel much further afield around the UK to help host wedding days for excited newlyweds.

As to whether, “Should I hire a wedding host, emcee or toastmaster for my wedding?”

I truly believe that by having someone who is on top of all elements of your day and with the guests and the wedding couple at the forefront ensuring they have the most magical time, it relives any stress or problems that arise on the day. If done properly the wedding couple won’t even know there was ever an issue.

In early November I was delighted to be invited to perform at Denise Welch's Charity Magic Castle Ball at Manchester's Principle Hotel. The star studded ball was in aid of the Rochdale based charity GEM Appeal and managed to raise over £45,000 for the organisation. The theme for this year's ball was all about magic and the Magic Castle and so Denise asked me to help her magically appear for her grand entrance. I decided to custom build a brand new illusion for the event where Denise would magically appear from a box that fills with smoke. The atmosphere in the room was incredible and the audience reaction to the illusion was amazing! It was a wonderful night and it certainly was filled with magic! In the summer of 2018, I was approached to produce a new gothic medieval themed show for Lavender Hotels at their authentic medieval banquet hall at the Park Hall hotel which dates back to 966AD. The hotel is based in Lancashire next to what used to be the Camelot Theme Park and still runs medieval theme nights and weddings at the venue. With the current popularity with everything that is Gothic they were looking to house something special in their amazing venue. I worked with the team there to develop a live dinner show concept that features live stunts, escapology, fire eating, magic and comedy interaction all wrapped up in an immersive themed night that transports visitors into another world. Guests enjoy a delicious 5 course banquet, the amazing live dinner show and an after show party. It has been a delight to write, produce and direct the show from the ground up, bringing together the expertise of the stuntman team, fight choreographers, magicians, jugglers and comedians into the mix. The show currently runs monthly and is available to book here

Last month I was invited by amazing magician Michael J Fitch to join an elite group of magicians in London's Brewery to create an amazing night of magic for the leading hair care brand ghd. Their annual celebration awards dinner was hosted in the City Of London and was branded with a touch of #ghdmagic. I was delighted to be working with some of the leading leading magicians in the country such as Nicholas Einhorn, Paul Martin, Tom Wright and event host Michael J Fitch. It was an incredible evening of magical entertainment with some amazing sleight of hand close up table magic along with some incredible illusions live on stage from Michael. It was an honour to work as such a high profile corporate event such as this in London and to add my amazing close up magic to this exclusive event.

I am delighted to announce that I have been invited to become the resident magician at the exclusive Opera Grill in Chester city centre. This amazing venue plays host to some wonderful events and artists each week and I was thrilled to be asked to join them each Sunday in their music lounge and on their gorgeous roof terrace. I will be performing some amazing close up sleight of hand magic around the tables entertaining guests and diners each Sunday evening from around 5pm. It is a real delight to perform this type of magic as the reactions from spectators is always wonderful. It is the fact that the magic takes place right under their noses that makes it so powerful. Come and join in the fun! My close up table magic is just one element of the Sunday line up. Alongside me on the terrace will be the amazing guitar vocalist George who will be performing a chill out acoustic set along with the resident DJs who will create that relaxed Ibiza chill-out atmosphere throughout the summer. In the main Music Lounge we have performing the resident gospel choir who present their amazing live show with 3 piece band. It is truly not to be missed.
